Love wine tasting in Santa Barbara so that must of been hard to give up for a good year! Hopefully when you are feeling up to it again you&#39;ll be right back out there drinking the best. I remember when I was pregnant and man the cravings were all wine! I cannot wait to go back this upcoming summer and enjoy the fresh air of the hills and barrels of wine! Planning on staying at the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Great vineyards and a wide selection of award winning wines. I really enjoyed reading your blog-you have a lot of good insight. I was just in Santa Barbara wine tasting and I went to several different places but I really enjoyed the Hitching Post, delicious! I stayed at a great hotel I just recently discovered which is really close to the area-the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). After your visit there, come to our little winemaking region called "Hidden Meadows" about 10-miles north of the animal park about 3-miles inland from I-15 (40 miles north of downtown San Deigo.) The reason is that the Riedel OR PN accents and focuses the alcohol, smells too alcoholic to me. I also prefer the traditional Rieldel PN fishbowl without the tulip. Great marketing, no improvement. Their wines are a refreshing change from the ubiquitous Oregon Pinots. I was blown away by the 2005 Syrah. Taste it next to the 2004 and you'll see why. Both are excellent wines, but the '05 is probably the best Syrah I have had. I also bought a few bottles of the '05 Bricco Riserva, and I cannot recommend this wine highly enough. I am going back to buy a case.<BR/>Also, the staff in the tasting room is the best I have come across. Even their winemaker Patrick Tailor came out to talk to us, and he was so nice and pleasant and knowledgeable. Our out-of-town guests returned to take a cooking class with the chef, and they raved about it.
